Driving around the country? Put these venues on your itinerary.

Remember when being allowed to choose an ice-cream at the servo was the best thing about a road trip? Or finally stopping in a country town for a meat pie from the bakery? Well, times have changed and we’re grown-ups now, so there’s plenty more to get excited about on our driving holidays. These days, there are loads of incredible bars and restaurants beyond our city limits that demand a stop of their own. In fact, these venues might even be the reason you hit the highway in the first place.

Our capital cities no longer have all the fun when it comes to brilliant food and drinks.  Whether you’re spending a day in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, passing through Burleigh Heads in Queensland, or visiting cellar doors in Victoria’s Rutherglen, you’ll want to make time for a few key stops to fuel up and get a taste of what each region does best. So, if you’re after ideas on where to stop on your next big road-trip adventure, we know just the place – check out our hitlist below.
