Because your boring Gin and Tonic is begging for a hit of summery citrus vibes.

About the cocktail

  • No shade to the Gin and Tonic – it’s a much-loved classic and we pay our respects – but wow it can be boring. It’s easy, sure, but a lot of the time, that’s all it’s got going for it. An excellent gin certainly lifts the game, but where things really get interesting is when you layer your G&T with a little extra flavour. You can call it oomph, pizzazz or razzle-dazzle – or anything less cringe – but there’s no denying the old G&T could use a little more jazz-hands energy.
  • Our recco? Pick up a bottle of the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour Cocktail Mixer. A dash of this bad boy will perk it right up. With zesty yuzu and tangy blood orange, it’s balanced by unique flavours like pineapple, rooibos tea and rosewater, it’s exactly what your G&T’s been yearning for. Inspired by sun-soaked arvos, salty breezes, fresh-cut grass and citrus-tinted sunsets, it’s basically golden hour in a glass.
  • A collab between Dan’s Daily (yours truly) and Mr. Consistent, the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour Cocktail Mixer is the result of two friends coming together over a shared passion for making truly excellent cocktails. Crafting a properly sophisticated cocktail at home is hard – there’s a reason we’re happy to pay for the skills of a good bartender – but we wanted to help you replicate the joy of a perfectly punchy and balanced cocktail without the cost or hassle of doing it yourself.
  • Once you’ve enjoyed it as a Classic Sour (with just about any spirit), try it in a G&T with our recipe below.

Ingredients

  • Ice

  • 45mL gin
  • 30mL Dan’s Daily x Mr. Consistent Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour cocktail mixer
  • Indian tonic (around 90mL or to taste)
  • Glass: tall Collins or highball
  • Garnish: lemon slice

Method

  1. Fill a glass with ice

  2. Add 45mL of your favourite gin
  3. Give that bottle of Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour mixer a good shake – it’s made with all fresh ingredients – then add 30mL to the glass
  4. Top with Indian tonic – roughly 90mL, or however much you like in your G&T
  5. Gently mix with a long spoon (a barspoon does the trick)
  6. Garnish with a slice of lemon to serve

Dan’s top tips

  • A slice of lemon is the OG G&T garnish, but given the flavours in this mixer, you could fancy things up with a slice of blood orange. Serve this alongside fresh prawns or a caprese salad and you’ll be absolutely laughing.
  • If you’ve done the Classic Sour and the G&T, now it’s time to try the Dan’s Daily x Mr. Consistent Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour as a punch
