We love great cocktails. Seriously. We love them so much we want to make them a romantic candlelit dinner and open a joint bank account. And when your friend loves cocktails as much as you do, you just have to make one together. While we could have settled for a shaking sesh in the backyard, we’re not known for doing things by halves. So, huge news, in a collab with mixing masterminds Mr. Consistent, we’ve released Dan’s Daily’s first ever IRL product. It is a downright pleasure to introduce you to the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour Cocktail Mixer – a drink as outrageously delicious as it is versatile. Cue the air horn, lasers and t-shirt cannons!
At Dan’s Daily, we’re always on the hunt for the perfect drink. Personally, I’ve been known to go full Phillip Brainard (a reference for the Flubber fans out there) when I’m mixing up a cocktail, turning my kitchen into a makeshift science lab and cackling madly at my bizarre creations. But making a really good cocktail at home is not easy. There’s fair reason you pay top dollar at deluxe bars for drinks crafted by highly skilled bartenders – they know what they’re doing, and they have the equipment, time and ingredients to do it.
We wanted to replicate the experience of having a perfectly balanced cocktail with punchy, unique flavours at home – without the cost or hassle. Something stupidly tasty, ideal for summer, truly adaptable and dead easy to enjoy. But it takes some serious experts to turn a dream like that into a reality, so we brought in the big guns (pew, pew).
It’s no secret we’ve had a crush on Mr. Consistent for a long time – based in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, this team of expert bartenders shares our genuine devotion to magnificent drinks. Their premium cocktail mixers have turned the at-home cocktail game on its head. It’s thanks to people like them we’ve been able to say “see you never” to sickly sweet Margarita mixers in a bucket, with more ultra-processed ingredients than a tube of squirtable cheese. We wanted help crafting the perfect summer cocktail, and we knew they were the one. After all, it was Mr. Consistent who made us hardcore believers in bottled cocktail mixers in the first place. With our extensive drinks experience and their elite production know-how, we had something really cooking.
Together, after a wild amount of experimenting, we’ve created the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour Cocktail Mixer – and it’s basically golden hour, bottled. One bottle makes 10 cocktails, and all you have to do is add the spirit (more on that shortly). Flavour-wise, expect loads of lively yuzu and tart blood orange, of course, but that vibrant citrus is balanced and rounded by ingredients like pineapple, rooibos tea and rosewater. Made from all natural (and 98% Australian) ingredients – no ma'am, you won’t find any reconstituted juice concentrates or artificial flavourings here – the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour blends summery freshness with just the right amount of fruit sweetness. Inspired by sun-soaked arvos, salty breezes, fresh-cut grass and citrus-tinted sunsets, it’s a symphony of playful yet sophisticated flavours that makes us feel like proud mother hens. Honestly, this is a cocktail that would be a pain in the ass to make from scratch yourself (trust us, we’ve done it), but now here it is in all its delectable, quenching glory, ready for you to pour, shake and enjoy.
