Two ingredients, a quick shake, and you’ve got the cocktail of the summer in seconds. Let us show you how.
About the cocktail
Zesty yuzu and tangy blood orange, balanced by unique flavours like pineapple, rooibos tea and rosewater. How do you achieve all that with just two ingredients? Too easy – just grab a bottle of the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour Cocktail Mixer and add your favourite spirit. A collab between Dan’s Daily (yours truly) and Mr. Consistent, the Yuzu & Blood Orange Sour Cocktail Mixer is the result of two friends coming together over a shared passion for making truly excellent cocktails. Crafting a properly sophisticated cocktail at home is hard – there’s a reason we’re happy to pay for the skills of a good bartender – but we wanted to help you replicate the joy of a perfectly punchy and balanced cocktail without the cost or hassle of doing it yourself. Here, summery freshness meets just the right amount of fruit sweetness in a drink that’s as outrageously tasty as it is versatile (see our top tips below for ideas on how to get wild with it). Inspired by sun-soaked arvos, salty breezes, fresh-cut grass and citrus-tinted sunsets, it’s basically golden hour in a glass. Made from all natural (and 98% Australian) ingredients. Honestly, this is a cocktail that would be a pain in the ass to make from scratch yourself (trust us, we’ve done it), but now here it is in all its delectable, quenching glory, ready for you to pour, shake and enjoy. It’s dead simple and downright delicious – a banger for all your summer get-togethers. Learn how below.

Dan’s top tips
Here’s the thing – some of us here love to make our Yuzu & Blood Orange Sours with tequila, others opt for gin, and some go for rum. Truth is, this is a mixer that works with many a spirit. We’ve had it with aged tequila, vodka, amaretto and even Cognac (to name a few), and they’ve all been winners. All this to say, mix it your way, with whatever you’ve got on hand. Try adding a splash to your G&T for a hit of extra flavour, or turn it into a punch alongside sparkling wine, lemonade and soda water (a cracker for sharing those summer vibes with friends). Prefer a non-alcoholic sip? It’s equally delicious as a mocktail, just add soda water or Indian tonic instead of the base spirit. And if you’re wondering how this Sour gets its iconic foamy head without egg? There’s pineapple juice to thank for that. A little bartender’s secret – with a vigorous shake, pineapple gives you all the foam you need, no egg required.
