Pale red, but this variety is very much one to not judge by colour alone. Blood plums, violets and bitumen aromatics. First notes on the palate are all about the framework, ample tannin as expected but resolved and ripe carrying a concentration of black fruits with hints of stone and tar giving interest. Goes long and deep. Have some wild boar ragu on hand.

It’s a lighter, fresher style, with clarity of red cherry, a dusting of spice and pepper, amaro herbs and aniseed. Lively, fine grip of dusty, almost rusty, tannin, crisp feel, a pleasing ‘coolness’ about it, and positive grip on a pretty long finish. Well worth having a look at.
