Deep, dark colour, with a tinge of black, sweet spices figure in a reserved bouquet, the palate sweet on entry then slightly uneven in its flow, with a jag of tannin towards the back. A little development is beginning to show. A nicely balanced drying effect from tannins on the finish.

Heathcote shiraz putting on a mighty fine show here. Translucent deep purple in the glass with the scent of freshly squeezed black cherries, bramble, raspberry and violet. Runs long and smooth across the palate, quite plummy and lifted with a hint of musky, woody spices. Fresh, fruit forward and bright, it will satisfy drinking this year but also prove its cellaring potential.
