Well I never did review the 2009, although I can tell you it was pretty good. It's in my notes somewhere, but meanwhile, the next bus has come throughWell I never did review the 2009, although I can tell you it was pretty good. It's in my notes somewhere, but meanwhile, the next bus has come through? There's a little tinned corn, but not enough to spook me. What there is though, is good focus and intensity with spicy oak weaved through fruit of excellent clarity and definition - lime, crisp white peach and grapefruit along with that there savoury oak spliced spice the main flavours. Combines a little restraint and finesse yet delivers a tasty mouthful for which the region is so justifiably famous. Captains and Kings, in the ships hold. They came to collect?silver (93) and gold (94). I'll think I'll give 'em golden nuggets. There's a little tinned corn, but not enough to spook me. Light to mid, bright yellow colour, with a straw and Friar's Balsam bouquet that reminds of the Hunter chardies of yore. The palate is light to medium-bodied and intense, lean and linear, the tense flavours threaded on a line of acidity leading to a finish of medium persistence. The savouriness is a feature.
