Vintage 2003

Deep red, slight purple, slight brickred edge. Lots of dusty earthy toasty oak-derived characters, still has some mocha and chocolate, palate soft and broad, slightly syrupy, oily, plenty of richness and texture, tannins are finer and suppler, I think, than earlier wines. Better than a lot of '03s. Not a refined wine, though. Some alcohol warmth and tannin rasp.
