Chasing a plush, juicy cabernet to crack with Sunday afternoon sangers? Well, forget this. The engineering is so impeccable it would put an Airbus to shame (hang on, make that a Boeing), and its serviceable life is longer, too! Stonking Margaret River cab from a legendary vintage.

Typical leafy Margaret River perfume, blackcurrant and mulberry and some chocolate oak. It’s medium to full bodied with excellent shape and structure – the backbone of firm but fine dusty tannin seems just right. And there’s plenty of ripe fruit, but it stays just inside the white line. Good finish – not wishy washy, but strong and meaningful. A little fresher and more focussed than the 2007; it’s a lovely follow up.
