Dry, Full Bodied style of ShirazHunter Valley, AustraliaGraveyard Vineyard is the jewel in the Brokenwood crown, responsible for the company's flagship wines. The vineyard was planted with Shiraz vines in 1970 - extremely heavy clay soils, yields are low, but fruit flavour is intense through employment of meticulous vinification techniques. Strong lifted aromas of sweet earth and dark cherry greet the olfactory senses. Oak features, but will soften and integrate given some patience. Initial flavours of dark chocolate and ripe plums are beautifully lashed to ripe tannins lending an edge of cedar.

Deep, youthful red colour with a good tint of purple, the bouquet still youthul and fresh with chocolate and vanilla aromas, full body and rich texture. The wine is sturdy, deep, dense and solid, textured and firmly tannic to finish. Big framework here, which should ensure it ages long.

Gee, by crikey, by Jingos I'll tell you what! They've turned out a pretty fine Graveyard this vintage. A classic middle weight Hunter with appreciably better oak treatment. The overarching impression it gives you is one of balance. It's impeccable.
