Ranked 2 of 25 2014 Grenache tasted from Barossa Valley. Deep red/purple colour, the bouquet earthy, spicy, blood plums and even some pepper. Good solid grip, the tannins firm and imposing on the after-palate. Dense, concentrated and rich, with a very long carry and masses of tannin. (64% shiraz, 21% grenache, 15% mataro)

Deep colour. Classic Penfoldsian style with upfront ripe dark musky plum, praline, Turkish Delight aromas with herb garden notes. Densely concentrated wine with lovely soft dark plum, paneforte, musky, dark cholate flavours, fine and supple slinky looseknit tannins and integrated acidity. Finishes chalky firm with lovely bitter cola, plum notes. Generous and supple with attractive primary fruit notes. Best to drink within two to three years but structure will allow wine to keep for a long time. Nothing serious but delicious to drink. Now-2022
