An elegant more mid-weight Pauillac, Chateau d’Armailhac is classically structured claret that is slightly earlier drinking than some of its Pauillac counterparts. The grapes are handpicked, de-stemmed and vinified using traditional methods before undergoing maturation in 30 percent new oak and 70 percent second fill barrels.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.

Dry

Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Deep crimson. Intense dark cherry, blackcurrant, mocha aromas with hints of marzipan, vanilla notes. Classical fine grained palate with pure cassis, cedar flavours, some vanilla marzipan mocha notes, lovely density and mineral torque. 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon 22 percent Merlot 16 percent Cabernet Franc 2 percent Petit Verdot 50 percent new oak.

This is like a baby Mouton this year with blackcurrant, flower, and orange aromas. Medium- to full-bodied with a tight and racy palate that shows persistence and verve. One to watch.
