This release of Bin 407 was a highlight of our tasting. A totally harmonious wine with an expressive, saturated black fruit display. Notes of pomegranate, bayleaf and vanilla cedar wrapped in a seamless, silky veneer complete a very convincing picture.

Deep, dense purple-red colour; powerful herbal cabernet nose, leaf and cassis, at the morevarietal end of the spectrum for Penfolds, and the tannins are mouth-coating and drying,with a suggestion of the greener, sappier spectrum. This is very grippy, and needs timeand or hearty protein. Drink 2028–2038.
