This walks a nice line, tying in generosity with a good deal of elan. The grenache gives plenty of lift and red-fruited buoyancy, with a layer of spicy shiraz, some vanilla and faint clove barrel notes overlaying. Raspberry and berry Danish notes, some earth, licorice and leather. It’s a nice drink, a little bit fireside drinking and also a friendly wine at table – for me, leaning to steak frites with a peppercorn sauce.

Deepish red-purple colour with smoked meat and and slightly animal aromas, the palate full bodied and stacked with firm tannins. A solid wine with some oak & lashings of tannins. A solid, gusty wine with plenty of potential.
