Deepish red/purple colour, with a reserved and gently oak-kissed bouquet, spicy and black-fruited with overtones of dried herbs, char-oak, graphite and smoke. The wine is intense and quite powerful, with a more solid, chunky structure compared to its stablemate, the Clarendon. Rich and emphatic finish, with lots of tannin and some alcohol warmth.

From the Trott vineyard, Blewitt Springs. Dark raspberry, sweet cherry, candied orange rind, and some flowers. It’s medium-bodied, juicy dark red fruit, something of a stony feel, seaweed and spice, and a savoury finish of good length. Powdery tannin rides on the finish. Good. Speaks of place.
