Whatever your plans are this long weekend, these are the cans, bottles and bagnums to pack in your esky that will make your long weekend tasty and pocket-friendly.

1. VoSo flavoured vodka and Soda Strawberry

VoSo –  short for “Vodka Soda”, add it to your vocab –  is a new premixed can mixed locally. They offer a few different flavours and variations, including a 6%, but the strawberry is our pick. Light and refreshing, but with the flavour of candied juicy strawberries, it’s perfect for hot days when you want a thirst quencher with some sweetness. It’s also vegan and comes in recyclable cans for easy clean-up.

3. Old Fat Unicorn Prosecco in a can

This prosecco is tasty, bubbly and full-flavoured, full of citrus, florals and crisp green apple. It’s the kind of sparkling you sip and go, “Oooooh! That’s nice.” Then you take in the label, see there’s a rhino pictured but the name says “unicorn”, and realise this wine really is something else. In the 250ml-size can, it’s perfect for the esky. Lay it on the bottom of your esky, then add a layer of ice – it’s essential to enjoy these bubbles cold and being in a can means it’ll chill quickly.

4. Vino Verse French Rosé Bagnum

French rosé in a bag? Très chic? Who cares, it’s très esky-friendly. This wine is all ripe strawberries and redcurrants, perfect for sunny afternoons where you’re laid on the grass with a wheel of brie and a baguette (and, you know, some utensils and glasses). More vibrant than sweet, this is a rosé everyone can get around. Bang on for big groups, there’s 1.5L of wine in the bag, and no sweat if there’s leftovers – bagnum wines stay fresher for way longer than bottles.

5. Funkin Strawberry Daiquiri

When done well, a cocktail in a can is a revelation, as seen with the Funkin Nitro Strawberry Daiquiri. Not surprising coming from longtime makers of cocktail mixers, purees and spirits. No mixology required, crack the can and enjoy a silky, velvet-smooth Daiquiri full of big strawberry flavour. If you’re at a holiday house, you could pour it into a coupe glass, add a split strawberry for garnish, and pretend you’re in the hottest new bar, but if you’re camping, straight from the can is mighty fine.

6. iZZ! Cocktail Watermelon Margarita

Another canned cocktail brand worth your attention, iZZ! Cocktail Company have a range of easy going, sparkling, pre-mixed cocktails, curated for relaxed weekends and laidback sessions. iZZ! Sparkling Watermelon Margarita is our pick because Margs are a vibe, and this iteration is fresh, moreish and delicious. It’s also low-sugar, and all natural. Win, win!

7. Aperol Spritz in a bottle

For a taste of the Italian summer, wherever you are, this is an OG Aperol Spritz with none of the mixing required, so you can focus on relaxing and making The White Lotus season three predictions. This mix maintains the bitterness you want in an aperitivo with the freshness from soda and prosecco. If you forget the bottle opener, nessun problema – this one gets bonus esky points for its pull-ring top.

8. Peroni

Italy’s favourite beer, Peroni Red is crisp, refreshing and full of flavour. It’s brewed for richness and consistency, so if you’re headed off-grid, this is a safe bet for a beer that everyone will enjoy, even if they haven’t tried it before. It would be the perfect pairing for fresh-cooked fish barbecued on the fire, or two-minute noodles if the fishing is less successful.
