Umamu EstateMargaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
About this product
Our philosophy has always been to give our wines time to age in the bottle before release, a rarity in today’s market.
Enjoying wines when they are ready to drink, rather than straight after bottling, when the wine has had time to develop and balance up in the bottle with no screaming parts.
We are excited to offer you this Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon from the glorious depths of our wine cellar.
This Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from parcels planted in 1978 and 1982. Alongside our Shiraz vines planted back in 1978, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are the oldest parcels on our family vineyard just 10km east of Margaret River in Western Australia. Cellar/Drink by 2043.

Vivid crimson-purple; a cabernet that exemplifies Umamu: it brings together cassis, quality French oak, and perfect cabernet tannins. Taken together you end up with aromas and flavours as complex as the texture and tannin structure. Right up there with the very best, and a long life ahead. Drink till 2041.

Deep, dark red colour with a faint tint of purple; the bouquet shows cedar, cigarbox and showing attractively developed aromas. The tobacco notes remind of crushed-leafy regional aromas which have mellowed and morphed with age. The tannins are bold and firm, and must have been rugged when the wine was young. It's a wine that would drink superbly with meat or cheese, and will continue to reward cellaring. Drink till 2029.
