About this product

Winter and Spring were both cool with plentiful rainfall. Summer was hot and exceptionally dry, with record heat-spikes in late January and early February. The Fiano showed its ability to stand up to the heat, and harvest took place on the same day in late February as the previous vintage.

The machine harvested fruit was given skin contact for 24 hours to gently extract skin phenolics. After pressing, half of the juice was settled to a high level of clarity for innoculated tank fermentation. The remaining half was transferred to old white puncheons with a higher level of solids for barrel fermentation using wild yeast. The two portions were blended before bottling without fining on 11th September 2019.

Our 2019 Heathcote Fiano has a medium straw colour with green tints. The nose displays intense aromas of yellow pear, apple and spring blossom. The palate reflects the warmer vintage, with ripe fruit up front, a beautiful textural component derived from the skin contact, and a deliciously long finish.
