Sorby AdamsLe Verrier Barossa Shiraz 2021
About this product
This collection honors our ancestor, John Couch Adams, who, along with fellow mathematicians, proved the existence of the planet Neptune in the 1840s.
His name is immortalized in one of Neptune's five rings.
Le Verrier is another ring of Neptune and a wine that proudly showcases all the characteristics of a fine Barossa Shiraz.
This deep red wine has a ruby hue and offers aromas of blackcurrant and spiced plum, complemented by notes of chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, it exemplifies classic Barossa Shiraz, featuring dark berries, mocha, and a hint of smoky tobacco, all seamlessly balanced for a long finish.
The wine has been matured in French oak hogsheads (30% new) for 24 months, using 4-year air-dried wood sourced from Francois Frere and Taransaud Coopers.
The grapes come from the East Angaston district (Eden Valley) and the Ebenezer area (Barossa Valley).
Sealed with a DIAM cork, this wine is enjoyable now and has the potential to age gracefully until 2035.

Vintage 2021
95 points points The Real Review
Really deep, dark, inky and opaque in the glass. Opulent aromas of stewed plum, mulberry, dark chocolate, sweet oak, cocoa powder and a brambly wildness. Deep, dark and super-concentrated in flavour. Decadently rich, chock-full of dark fruits and shapely, velvety tannins — all framed by some classy French oak. Big time Barossa.

Superbly fruited and enticing, the wine shows black/blueberry, rich floral, game, Asian spice and toasty oak characters on the nose. The palate displays impressive concentration and richness, wonderfully complemented by fleshy texture and beautifully melded tannins. Opulent and structured at once, with a sustained velvety finish. At its best: now to 2036.
