Rocky GullyGreat Southern Shiraz 2022
About this product
The 2018 Rocky Gully Shiraz comprises 98.8% Shiraz with a tiny splash of Viognier. 2018 was one of the standout vintages for red wines in recent times. A cold and wet winter in 2017 delayed budburst. A wet spring and cool, dry conditions throughout summer provided an exceptional year for Shiraz. Fruit was harvested in clean and ideal condition.
The nose shows bright ripe fruits, dark cherries with spiced plum, black pepper and spice with subtle integration of oak. A middle weighted palate begins with bright florals, juicy fruit and a lifted integration of earthy spice note and black pepper. It has soft, mouthcoating tannin, and a creamy texture, while subtle oak provides a poised, elegant finish.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Spicy, red and black fruit, slight gum leaf, maybe a bit of a honey nut thing going on, but don’t mind me. Medium-bodied, spicy and a little meaty, nice chew of tannin, and a finish of good length. Good drinking. Value expression of regional Shiraz.
