Possibly Australia's finest sparkling wine yet, this could come to the table against some very high end Champagne. Superb sherbet, a brioche-like thread of fine yeasts, remarkably detailed. Superbly chosen mature reserve wines showing cashews and genuine weight are the key here, with winemaker Trina Smith weaving great parcels in among vibrantly fresh notes of lemon curd and tight cumquat tang. The finish seems impossibly long, and the result is simply spectacular.

Medium yellow with an almost green tinge to it. The bouquet emphasises tropical fruits, pineapple, grapefruit, mango, while the palate is full and round, rich and creamy, with generosity and harmony. The finish is nicely dry thanks in part to well-judged phenolics. It's full on the front-palate and just lacks a little in line and length. (NB. It no longer mentions Tasmania on the label and the Heemskerk name has been down-played)
