About this product

The Croser family planted the Tiers Vineyard to Chardonnay in 1979, the first vineyard in the Piccadilly Valley and the modern Adelaide Hills wine region. The vineyard slopes gently to the northeast at an altitude of 450 metres and has a very cool climate ideal for Chardonnay. The 1600 million year old calc-silicate geology has weathered to a bright red, free draining superior viticultural soil. The 2021 vintage was warmer than average at 1233C days versus the long-term average of 1033C days (Mt Lofty). 2021 vintage was cool and dry through to harvest on March 25th to 26th. February, March and April were close to average temperature, defining a Tiers Chardonnay of finesse and intensity. The wine was barrel fermented in new (33%) and one and two use barriques and left on lees until it was clear racked from barrique before bottling in January 2022. 2021 Tapanappa Tiers Chardonnay is a pure expression of a unique Australian terroir.
