Majority Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance taken up of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2005 Haut-Batailley is from one of the vintages of the century and while an attractive wine in it's infancy, will reward the patient with an almost perfect wine in 20+ years time.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Blackcurrant and dark cherry, graphite, licorice and a floral edge - like lavender. Medium bodied, crisp sweet fruit (in context) with a high mineral content and hordes of 2005 tannin sweeping majestically across the palate. Savoury tobacco and mineral finish. It offers depth and complexity along with refreshment and interest. Thrilled to pop some into the cellar and will likely purchase some more.
