Brut Reserva Heredad Cava

Segura Viudas (pronounced she-GUR-a vi-YOU-das) winery and vineyards lie in the heart of the Penedès wine region in Torrelavit, just outside of Barcelona, and is one of the most recognised names when it comes to Cava. Some of the buildings that house the winery date back to the 11th century, having served multiple purposes from military watch towers to a flour mill. The house style here is of freshness, with a focus on indigenous Spanish grape varieties, supported by smaller percentages of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for elegance and complexity.  A blend of 75% Macebeo and 25% Chardonnay. Straw yellow in apperance with a fine, plentiful mousse. The opening aromas are lightly smokey, with touches of biscuit and bread, followed by hints of honey, fruit and flower petals. The palate is fruity and full of flavour, with dried fruits from the 15+ months of lees ageing, but very elegant, giving a delightful sense of generosity.
