Vintage 2019
94 points The Real Review
Deep, bold, dark red/purple colour, with a spicy, smoky, char-oak and dark chocolate bouquet, with subtle inflexions of blackberry and dark-plum. The wine is full-bodied and rich, deep and showing good concentration, the tannins very evident on the back-palate and finish, with some ferrous-ironstony characters and lingering earthy savouriness. A very smart shiraz.

This is a blend from three McLaren Vale vineyards from three distinct subregions. Each of the vineyard wines was kept separate until bottling. The cooler Piebald Gully fruit seems to contribute to the elegance and vibrancy with its bright fruit characters. It’s full-bodied but refined and elegant, displaying spicy red fruit aromas and a rich, juicy, dark fruit palate. It’s largely been in French oak, but 20% American oak has added a sweetness to the middle palate. Impressive wine and great value in the cellar.
