Pale gold with green highlights. Intense aromas of apricots, cardamom, white pepper and fresh ginger. Lifted ginger spice is layered on the palate with mineral, sourdough-like texture, apricots and almond savouriness. It is complex while at the same time shows purity and restraint that will unwind slowly in the glass and take the imbiber on a sensory journey.

Medium bodied white wines have a lightly textured mouthfeel with moderate flavour impact. Often pale lemon coloured to pale gold.

Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

I''m not a noted fan of viognier but this edition of The Virgilius is very, very good. Such a tight, precise wine. It has power and opulence but the rein is held very tight. Ginger, shell grit, melon, coconut, pips and stones. Terrific length. Composure all over. A tip-top white wine.
