A wine that trades effectively on the hearty, fleshy fruit-driven appeal of the region. Blackberries abound, together with really approachable and smoothly finished tannins. Drink now. Screw cap.

12 months in oak, a skerrick new (15%), this is a plump and full-weighted wine with just enough structural mettle to corral the stream of blue to black fruit allusions, barbecue sauce, anise, tapenade and dried seaweed. There is a whiff of reduction as is contemporary Australia's wont with shiraz, but in all, a very solid drink.
