About this product

Hunter Valley pioneers Tyrell’s present this premium evocation of Hunter Shiraz, named for Johnno’s vineyard, itself christened in honour of fifth-generation family member John Tyrrell. The vineyard was christened in 1908 with Semillon and Shiraz. Wines from this vineyard are known as the Sacred Site wines. Light, alluvial, sandy soils result in a Shiraz of unique, lifted character representative of Hunter Shiraz. Fruit for this wine is handpicked and fermented with 10% whole bunches. After fermentation, it is matured in one new 2700L French oak cask. Light, bright, and energetic, this Shiraz welcomes the drinker with lively red fruit and violet, and a scant lick of oak. Blackberry, light new oak and grainy tannins on the palate contribute to a delightfully fresh palate.
