Power is the theme of the new Yattarna, with impact and presence of sweet corn, fig and white peach. Gun smoke complexity hovers, while a tense, firm line of Tasmanian acidity defines a honed finish that screams out for time to settle. This is interesting. It's not flamboyant. It's steely and reserved, and yet powerful. The coil is tight. The length is stunning. It builds quickly but then holds its breath, steeling for the finish. It needs another year or two to really open up its stride. Lactose, plenty of mealy funk, sesame, nuts, stones. Yattarna has come such a long way over the years. Gone is the flash, in its place: confidence. The mountain is high. But it's scaled it.
