The ancestor vines at Langmeil are believed to be 140yo, the vineyard surrounded by houses. Hand-picked, fermented with 10% whole bunches, the remainder whole berries, matured in French oak. The colour is light crimson, the wine exceptionally elegant and fragrant. The fruits are more red than black, fine tannins providing texture and structure. All in all, a testament to the vines.

The Real Review
Deepish red colour with a tint of purple, but not as dark or dense as other wines from this maker. The bouquet is reticent, reserved and perfumed, subtle and fine, with greater elegance and less concentration and brute power than some of their other shirazes. Talc and charry oak and red berry, violet fruit aromas. The tannins are very fine and nicely modulated, the texture refined and supple, svelte and long in the mouth. It has delicious flavour, detail, elegance and charm. A really lovely wine and not the massive blockbuster we might have expected. Yum! (1346 bottles produced)
