Vintage 2013

A 50/25/25% co-fermented blend matured in American oak (11% new). I purchased the forerunner '62 vintage at the cellar door in '64, made from Brown Brothers' Everton Vineyard, this version from their Milawa Vineyard. It is medium-bodied until the last moment when the tannins cut up rough, but will hopefully settle down with time.

Vintage 2013

After several days open this wine was transformed. Oak was far less intrusive and the wine was softer, fleshier and more balanced. This all suggests it will be long-lived and take time in the cellar to reach optimum drinking. Chocolate, black fruits, smoky vanilla and mocha aromas, the palate tremendously rich and fleshy, loaded with extract and concentrated flavour, oak and fruit intertwined. Cellar it!
