Vintage 2010

The wine spends 3 years in French oak, and represents only 1% of the total Gemtree shiraz production. Dense crimson-purple; the black cherry, blackberry licorice and dark chocolate fruit flavours are so rich and intense that they have absorbed the oak into a velvety whole. While the wine is too full-bodied to be described as elegant, it is particularly well balanced. Had it been sealed with a screwcap, its future would have been 50+ years.

Deep red colour with a good tint of purple; the bouquet is smoky, toasty oaky and savoury. It's a very deep, concentrated, rich, full-bodied shiraz, with abundant supple tannins, balanced acidity and a nicely lively, energetic finish despite its weightiness. A lovely big, generous, stylish wine. Cellar it for best results.
