A single vineyard wine, matured for 14 months in new French oak in which it finished the final stages of its fermentation. The bouquet is laden with cassis of startling purity, and while cedary oak is a major player, it is so well-integrated it doesn't overwhelm, let alone challenge, the fruit.

Very deep purple/red colour. Excellent hue and density. Very rich, toasty, roasty aromas, with intense cassis-like overtones. The most Coonawarra regional of the three recent vintages. Lush and dense in the mouth with an immense amount of black fruit aroma and flavour. Very powerful and complex, serious wine. Oak is seamlessly interwoven, there is a hint of licorice and blackberry essence. Black olive hints. Very Penfolds-like but not oaky - let alone coconutty as it's all French oak.
