Another impeccably good offering from Chester Osborne combining rich and voluptuous McLaren Vale Shiraz with lifted fragrant Viognier. One of the pioneers of this style, the 'Magpie' continues to go from strength to strength. The 2008 vintage condition is quite ideal despite sustained heat wave in early March. The Laughing Magpie is a blend of both early and late picked parcels, which translates into rich ripe dark berries flavour with hints of herbal on the palate. This is a bold and lengthy wine with savoury oak and an impressive tannin structure.
