Vintage 2010
97 points
Huon Hooke called this wine "a masterpiece of elegance” assigning it 97 points shortly after release. Today this wine stands as a testament to cool-climate Grampians Shiraz, adopting the Burgundian (Pinot Noir) technique of whole-bunch fermentation to give enhanced aromatics, flowing velvet-like structure and spice for days. At almost seven years age it is still a pup, capable and worthy of decades more cellaring but oh so satisfying now. Plenty of time in the decanter to open up, then enjoy in decent large-bowled glassware.

This is a masterpiece of elegance. Very complex spice, pepper and violet high notes combined with chacuterie. Oak is noticeably missing: the fruit does all the talking. Clean as a whistle and very long.
