This classic Rhone Valley blend has a strong dark fruit and brooding personality, with oak-derived spice a feature; the palate is taut and tannic and unevolved, with a floral element lingering on the finish.

Very deep, dark purple/red/black colour. The aromas are predominantly nutmeg, with some licorice and jam. It seems oaky, unexpectedly. The palate is harsh, slightly hot, heavy and clumsy. A little bitterness. Rather extracted. Needs quite a few years to soften and mellow. Not up to the usual standard.
