About this product

This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to secure one of the rarest wines in the world. A single-bottle released straight from the cellars of arguably the region''s finest producer. Great Rioja starts life as a rich-fruited, tannic behemoth, unfurling gracefully over decades. 1958 was such a vintage. Remarkably at over 50 years of age this wine still shows signs of freshness, along with a wonderful amalgam of cold tea, Kiwi shoe polish, bitumen, leather, spice and roses. The tannins and oak are fully resolved, though the wine remains poised and complete. Produced almost a decade before the introduction of colour TV into Australia, this wine represents a slice of history.

This rare bottle has now been sold. We are looking to secure a few more interesting old vintages from Spain. If you are potentially interested in acquiring a bottle of 1958 Riscal or another anniversary wine please send us an email at [email protected]
