Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon is a classic Hunter Valley Semillon displaying a tightly structured palate with fantastic length with strong citrus flavours. First produced in 1963 using the Semillon fruit grown on the sandy dry creek bed of the Short Flat Vineyard near Tyrrell's historic Pokolbin winery, this fantastic wine is now arguably Australia's finest Semillon.
Light bodied white wines have a water-light mouthfeel. Often very pale to light colour.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

The cork has held up OK but the wine has started to show its age, quite apart from the fact that this vintage has always had a green character, presumably from underripe fruit. It's not my favourite style but others enjoy it more.
