GiacondaWarner Vineyard Shiraz 2016
About this product
A kaleidoscope of flavours and aromatics: a heady offering of earth, beetroot, satsuma plums, damp rose petals, briar, cold tea and Chinese five spice. The palate is a mirror image of the bouquet, showing purity, depth and harmony between the elements of fruit, tannin, oak and acidity. Fine savoury tannins underpin the racy spiced plum fruit. An utterly seductive and beautifully perfumed wine that underscores just how exciting shiraz can be when grown at altitude in granitic soils.

Vintage 2016

Deep red colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is intensely fragrant, very vegetal, peppery and stalky, and smacks of slightly green stems. Green peas and beans as well. Lots of whole-bunch ferment, no doubt. It's raw and rather bolshie in the mouth, with acid, tannin and some greener notes adding up to a little rawness. It's full-bodied and concentrated, and has the makings of an excellent wine if kept a while.
