Ranked 6 of 364 2014 Chardonnay tasted from Australia Very light straw colour. The wine is pristine, very clean and pure with a little toasted nut aroma, the palate very tight and fresh, crisp and delicate. The oak is very restrained even at this cold temperature and 70% new barrels. This drinks superbly right now, but undoubtedly has a long future. Great length and seamless texture. A superb wine. (70% new oak; 73% Tasmania, 27% Adelaide Hills. The 20th release of Yattarna.)

...This is interesting. It''s not flamboyant. It''s steely and reserved, and yet powerful. The coil is tight. The length is stunning. It builds quickly but then holds its breath, steeling for the finish. It needs another year or two to really open up its stride. Lactose, plenty of mealy funk, sesame, nuts, stones. Yattarna has come such a long way over the years. Gone is the flash, in its place: confidence. The mountain is high. But it''s scaled it.
