Very deep, concentrated purple/red colour and a very dense, latent, reserved bouquet which is filled with typical Penfolds savouriness, not necessarily oak character but coconut, chocolate, spices and black fruits. The palate is very concentrated and dense, fleshy and profound, but the tannins are remarkably smooth and easygoing.

This is a wine. Ripe berried fruit, a creamy overlay, plenty of tannin, plenty of grunt. It roars flavour at you with a smile on its face. Its both blossomy and pretty, with sweet/raisiny highlights, but it kicks impressively from the mid palate onwards. Meaty, gamey, toasty notes power throughout. Knockout shiraz.
