Made in the usual Home Block fashion, including ageing in 40% new French oak for 11 months. While it’s a bit old school, it’s very good as it maintains vitality and depth. Fuller bodied and laced with dark fruits, blood orange, chocolate and spice, new leather, Old Spice and ferrous aromas with loads of pomegranate tang. It’s appealing, in need of food and keenly priced for such a wine.

Deep, bright red-purple colour; the bouquet shows earthy/savoury and charred meat nuances overriding the fruit aromas, while the palate is soft and sweetly fruited with cherry and blackberry flavours, and some real elegance. This is a lovely, approachable, medium-bodied shiraz with fine grained tannins and supple texture, which drinks beautifully now. Really delicious current drinking.
