About this product

Vintages: 2013 (50%), 2012 (30%) and 2011 (20%) Bottling: 2014 Disgorgement: July 2021 Time on lees: 84 months The V.P. stands for Vieillissement Prolongé (prolonged aging), as this wine spends an extended period on lees—in this case 84 months. It is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and as for the Brut, the fruit is also from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay—all great Grand Cru terroirs. Vinification and élevage was in oak casks, and the dosage was a tiny three grams per litre. The power of the fruit, plus the extended lees aging grants such harmony, so much length, so much complexity and texture, that the dosage seems irrelevant. It’s a vinous, powerful, super-pure Champagne of great depth and class. Intense and statuesque, there’s so much finesse as well… “A blend of the 2013, 2012 and 2011 vintages, Egly's latest NV Egly-Ouriet Extra-Brut Grand Cru V.P. was disgorged in spring 2021 with three grams per liter dosage. It's a lovely wine, bursting with aromas of fresh bread, citrus oil, crisp orchard fruit, praline and subtle hints of clear honey and exotic fruits. Full-bodied, layered and textural, it's concentrated and incisive, with a pinpoint mousse and a long, saline finish. As ever, this is warmly recommended.” 94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate.
