Assertive tannin is certainly at play but a combination of sweet, plum-shot fruit and spicy vanillin oak is there in spades to complement it. Is there a slight dip to the mid-palate? Not really but the wine does raise the question. Otherwise is a well-executed hedonist's delight.

Cigar box, oak, intense chocolate, pan jus and roasted root vegetable. Deeply intense fruit with dark chocolate coating, rum and raisins. Tannins are fine and good.
