Medium-depth brick-red colour with a good ruby centre. The bouquet is showing mellow age to the point of savouriness, with a lot of dried herb, wild thyme, earthy, terrestrial nuances. The palate is full-bodied and rounded, again showing appropriate, if slightly forward, savoury development and endowed with secondary characteristics rather than primary fruit. The tannins are obvious, dry and powdery but not tough or aggressive. There is a little alcohol heat in the aftertaste together with lingering grip. Very good. (1, 272 bottles released.)
