Very deep, dense red/purple colour with a tar, bitter chocolate, espresso coffee and subtle pepper-spice bouquet, fruitcake and walnuts as well. The palate is chewy and thick, dense and extracted, with grippy tannins. A big, concentrated vintage. It needs food with protein.
