Light bright salmon pink colour; gunpowder aromas on the first nose, then some smoky mushroomy pinot notes. A shrill fizz on the palate adds to a certain astringency. A slight metallic hardness persists. A little liqueuring might have helped its drinkability. Food needed.

I do like pink sparkling wine and this is a cracking good example of the style. It's from Mount Barker pinot and it saw a little time in oak and stainless steel before ageing for 24 months on lees, a key part of the process to build complexity and texture into the palate which it does beautifully. Creamy strawberry fruit with a hint of brioche.
