Deep-ish red colour with a purple rim; the bouquet peppery, spicy and slightly animal, with some meaty, charcuterie-like notes. The spice suggests a cooler-year wine. It's medium to full-bodied and the tannins are grainy and slightly earthy with a hint of graphite. It's a contrast in style to the 2013. The feral note is a slight concern. (A very small percentage of viognier)

Shiraz with 2% viognier. Not quite as sweet/intense as the best prior releases but arguably more complex. It's both an entirely satisfying and intriguing wine. Red cherries, blackberries, a flash of aniseed, cedary oak and both dried leaf and smoke-like notes. Highly aromatic; it draws you in; it deserves to be enjoyed from a large-bowled glass.
