Deep red/purple colour, with a char-oak aroma, a whisper of volatile acidity, lots of alcohol warmth and a little astringency. Smoky-earthiness later, savoury and mysterious. This has character and stacks of concentration and power. Abundant supple tannins supply great structure. Lively palate, refreshing moreish finish. A most impressive, imposing wine.
