Vintage 2012

Leigh Clarnette's decades of experience show through here. One wonders if he truly knows just how great he is. A linear and world class frame of vibrant minerals, liquorice and tightly wound dark fruits all speak brilliantly of place here, in a wine that is surely among the Grampians' finest. A breath taking intensity, begging to be left alone for some years, when the wine may by then garner an even higher rating.

Vintage 2017
95 points The Real Review
Deepish ruby colour with traces of brick and purple in the rim. The bouquet is very peppery and earthy-spicy, cool-grown, and there's a slight charcuterie overtone. The wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with understated power and an almost steely firmness that smacks of Great Western. Ironstone - or at least a ferrous note - is very much evident. Long, refined tail. Eminently cellarworthy.
